Abstract

A Collaborative User Experience Technical Report: more about CUE...

This report begins a characterization of participation patterns in online communities, examining records from two communities of practice that used a Web-based collaborative environment for storing documents and discussions. Patterns of activity for the two communities were very different, reflecting their different needs and different missions – despite the fact that 79% of the members of one community were also members of the other community. Organizations and researchers may benefit from planning for appropriate patterns of participation in communities of practice.
