Abstract

The Carlisle Community Center is a community Web site for the town of Carlisle, Massachusetts. The objective of the research is to determine whether the site can promote social capital within the town. Three design features are central: elimination of anonymity, controlled access, and emphasis on community groups. We present a snapshot of the current state of this project, focusing on the level of interaction occurring at this site.
